Recent Press
San Lucas has a way of inspiring guests and the press to put pen to paper and applaud. Here are some recent press clippings. (Follow this link if you would like to read testimonials from past guests.)
"The little details, from the carefully crafted wooden furniture in the simple but elegant rooms to the hammocks swinging from the porches outside, make this one of the country's most charming lodgings."

From Honduras This Week:
"Looking
for a wonderful place to relax on your next Copan getaway
weekend? .... well look no further than Eco-Hacienda
San Lucas. It's a one of a kind, jewel of a place that
is guaranteed to leave you relaxed, refreshed, pampered
and happy. San Lucas was the brainchild of Flavia Cueva
who returned to Honduras after many years of living in
the US. Upon her return she hatched the idea to turn
her family's old hacienda into a small, cozy restaurant
and lodge. Now a couple of years later, the old farmhouse
has been lovingly restored to its original glory and
features two comfortable guest rooms, a small bar and
dining area as well as the always popular outdoor sitting
area under the huge ancient looking adobe tile roof.
The view out over the valley is nothing less than spectacular
with a panoramic vista of the archeological site below
as well as the village and Copan River Valley stretching
off into the distance .... and the food, borne of old
family recipes handed down from mother to daughter gives
the place a special air of times long gone when Central
America was a more simple place and small pleasures like
munching on warm tortillas and digging into freshly steamed
tamales were the highlight of the day.
For the active, there is horseback riding and hiking on forested trails. For
the less active there are numerous oversized hammocks and plenty of ice cold
beer and soft drinks just a beck and call away. Sounds like paradise .... well
in this part of Honduras, San Lucas in just a few short years has earned itself
quite a reputation as one of the premier eco-lodges in the country. Crafted
with love and care, San Lucas is more than just a place to lay one's head for
a night ... it's a place to savor, to experience and contemplate. Dona Flavia
has crafted a true gem ... and it is a shining, bright example of what tourism
could and should be. San Lucas gets a two thumbs up from this writer for trailblazing
new ground. It's commitment to community based sustainable tourism and it's
single minded quest to provide guests with top notch service and value makes
this a very special place."
